Summer Heat and Busy Working

No license, No problem
The State of Texas has been doing a lot to promote fishing. The first Saturday in June is a free fishing day. No one needs a license to fish that day. But this is only a start. All summer long you can fish for free in the state parks. There are even numerous clinics scheduled to teach people who have never fished before how to begin angling. This is great for Dads that do not know how to fish to begin this sport with their children. You can attend a family fishing day and learn how to learn techniques, regulations and try your hand at catching fish on your own.
These events hosted 2,300 kids and 1,400 adults last year. Of these folks, 20% of the children had never fished. Another statistic the state liked about the usefulness of the fishing events was that 47% of the adults had not been to the park before. It is believed that getting a local adult to a park produces more visits.
I think it is great Texas is being proactive in managing their parks and fisheries in this way.
